Band
Also called Ladder
Even rungs stepped across the bar, like a ladder laid down the blade.

Band - makers also call it Ladder - is the most orderly of the eight: straight, even bars of pattern crossing the steel at a steady pitch. It reads cleanly from across a room, where a busier pattern turns to texture.
A natural fit for long blades where the eye travels the length of the steel: chef's and carving knives, and any piece where you want the pattern to be unmistakable.
